Daniel Boutin's Biography

In 1978 Daniel Boutin from La Doré (Québec, Canada) was 18 years old, he had everything to look forward in life. He wanted to become a worker for the Governement of Québec. All the test were been done and the results were good. He only had to pass the final interview.

In 1980, at 20 years of age Daniel Boutin is not looking at life like he used to. He was the victim of a murder attempt, that left him partially paralized on october 24th 1980.

The troubles of Daniel Boutin started in the summer of 1980. He was working as student carpenter at Notre-Dame-de-la-Doré. He got that job on a governement of Canada project called <<Canada at work>> He was working in the restoration of an historical sawmill. He broke two ribs a couple of weeks later

From 1982 to 1986. He tried a couple new things one of them was sculpture he was installed in a small workshop owned by his parents. With sculpture he discovered that he had the gift of creativity that allowed him to explore new and better things.

From 1986 to 193. Daniel Boutin goes back to carpentry, this was not an easy comeback, and he realised that all was not lost, with hard work, he could realize his dream and do what he likes the most in life and that is carpentry.

From 1993 to 1997. He goes back to work for an employer his principal task was to build kitchen cabinets.

From 1997 to 1999 A new challenge, The restoration of an old mill located in Lac-St-Jean.

From 1999 to today Daniel Boutin founded his own company, Menuiserie d'Antan ''Yesterday's Carpentry'' so he can live his own passion. He developped a high quality rocking chair. He makes all of them by hand, with heart, each and every pieces that he sells to his clients is a piece of art of a superior quality. And it is now on the open market. He also makes many other items that require a high quality craftsmanship and also very good carpentry skills.
